Согласно МЭС 151-12-20 socket , это часть соединителя, которая присоединена к аппарату или к конструктивному элементу и может иметь в качестве контактов гнезда, штыри или и то и другое.. Таким образом, согласно МЭС 151-12-20 socket, это и приборная вилка и приборная  розетка.
